Menstrual Hygiene Campaigns to keep Girls In School
We carried out a menstrual hygiene campaign at Kyampisi Primary School to address the challenges that young girls in schools face during menstruation. This activity was more of an interactive session where we engaged with the students and teachers on menstrual hygiene management, challenging myths and breaking the silence around menstruation which builds a supportive environment for the girls during menstruation. We supported 80 young girls in upper primary with sanitary pads to ensure that they don’t misses out on school because of her period.
The objectives of this campaign were;
- To distribute sanitary pads to school girls to ensure girls do not miss school or exams due to lack of menstrual products.
- To build confidence and resilience among girls and encourage them to focus on their academic success.
- To equip young people with knowledge and information on menstruation to break the silence around menstrual stigma.

By keeping girls in school, we are directly contributing towards the campaign to end child marriage through knowledge sharing and breaking the taboos and norms that view menstruating girls as ready for marriage.
