Girls, Parents & Community Empowerment

Kikorongo women community supported Media engagement of girls and boys through Radio talk shows. This was done by trace me back girls representatives to participate in radio talk shows to engage the masses into the debate of child marriages eradication, girl education support and teenage pregnancy prevention strategies. Kikorongo women community supported cultural and community resource centers to provide a community space to girls and vulnerable young mothers and school dropouts.

Communication and girls leadership aimed at strengthening local community actions towards ending child marriages and changing social and behaviors among the community aimed at promoting gender transformative innovations . Girls open day sporting challenge for community engagement where by girls who participated in the event developed the confidence, self-esteem and leadership skills.

Objectives:

Increase awareness about the dangers and consequences of child marriages.
To equip these places with sufficient materials and equipments like tailoring materials and materials for making re-usable sanitary pads to promote skills among girls and also enhance access to resource information and education.

Girls open day sporting challenge used as a campaigning tool to engage with communities to respond to the increasing cases of child marriages and teenage pregnancies.

Target population: Kikorongo women community targeted four hundred parents and family members (400), Two hundred boys (200), and sic hundred girls (600). Kikorongo women community managed to cover seventy five percent (75%) out of the targeted population.

Case management: There’s some cases which are above local councils that needs justice but parents are un able to facilitate the process, so these cases needs follow up.
