
GNBU Regional Engagement meeting
Name of Organisation: Shines Children’s Foundation
Our organization undertook a series of activities aimed at community empowerment, focusing on ending child marriages and reducing teenage pregnancies.
We participated in the GNBU mid-western regional engagement meeting in Masindi, which strengthened coordination and mobilization among member organizations. The meeting discussed best practices, emerging issues, and ways to attract and expand membership.
Outcomes:
– Successful GNBU regional engagement conducted with the participation of 6 organizations with 12 participants inclusive of 2 from the secretariat.
– The engagement yielded some Action Points which included: Update GNBU database by members by 2 weeks from the time of engagement meeting.
– Data collection on child marriage and teenage pregnancies from 2018-2024 by GNBU members from the region by close of July 2025.
– Mobilize for the 2025 1st summit meeting by Members and Regional coordinator by 2nd week of August.
– Recruitment of at least new GNBU members.
– Submit activity/impact stories.
Overall challenges:
– Limited and fixed budget which restricted participation of potential local government leaders and other local structures in the engagement meeting.
