Name of Organisation: Uganda Youth and Adolescents Health Forum
In April and May 2025, UYAHF held male engagement forums, traditional “Ekyoto” sessions, school outreaches, and community dialogue in Kalangala District. The sessions focused on child marriage prevention, teenage pregnancy reduction, and youth-friendly SRH services.
The events held in several Islands of Kalangal saw over 100 students and community members reached and was attended by area members of parliament Hon. Moses Kabusu (MP. Kyamuswa County ) and Hon. Hellen Nakimuli (Woman MP), and district leaders, who led sessions on career guidance, child marriage prevention, and tackling teenage pregnancy, inspiring the students through real-life experiences and practical advice. They pledged to support girls’ education and protection.
Over 100 students and community members reached across several islands in Kalangala District. Increased awareness on child marriage prevention, teenage pregnancy reduction, and youth-friendly SRH services. High-level engagement from local leaders, including Hon. Moses Kabusu and Hon. Hellen Nakimuli, plus district leaders.
Career guidance and mentorship provided to students, inspiring them through real-life experiences and practical advice. Public pledges by leaders to support girls’ education and protection from harmful practices. Community involvement through male engagement forums, traditional “Ekyoto” sessions, and dialogue platforms fostering collective responsibility.
