Reflecting on Menstrual Health and Hygiene Day
Name of Organisation: Tackle
Tackle proudly joined the national celebration of World Menstrual Hygiene Day at Lugogo Cricket Oval in Kampala. Hosted by the Ministry of Education and Sports, this year’s theme — #PeriodFriendlyWorld — highlighted the importance of creating environments where menstruation is acknowledged as a natural and manageable part of life.
Amidst the many participating organisations, Tackle stood out by showcasing how sport can be a powerful tool for education. Through our football-led methodology, we engaged students and stakeholders in interactive demonstrations, sparking open discussions on menstrual health and broader sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR).

We are especially grateful to our partner CouldYou?, who generously donated 50 menstrual cups distributed to adolescent girls and women. These sustainable solutions will empower recipients to manage their periods with dignity and confidence. Our thanks also go to our funder, Laureus Sport for Good Foundation, whose support enabled our participation in the event and continues to drive our menstrual health programme in greater Hoima, helping girls and young women to thrive.
The day reinforced the power of partnership and collective action in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Together, we can break down the stigma surrounding menstruation and ensure every individual has the knowledge, resources, and support they need to flourish.
