Rozy Reusable Sanitary Pads in Kampala City

SYRADO Uganda is a youth, women-led not for profit organization that works with youth in slum communities to improve their lives. SYRADO Uganda integrates actions in economic empowerment, mental health recovery and resilience Sexual Reproductive Health Rights, Prevention to Gender Based Violence, waste recycling and emergency relief to support adolescent girls, young mothers and other vulnerable youth in the slum communities in Kampala. SYRADO mainstreams gender, leadership and advocacy through its programs. SYRADO empowers youth to form groups through which they learn and participate in in mental health recovery and development processes.

Rozy reusable sanitary pads is a social enterprise under SYRADO sustainability plan. This means that income obtaining from selling the pads at a cost friendly price is channeled into supporting SYRADO activities. The major reason for Rozy pads’ existence is to end period poverty while saving the environment and keeping girls in school. Millions of girls in the rural and rural-urban areas of Uganda are disempowered by the simple biological process of menstruation through stigma and period poverty. SYRADO through Rozy pads thrives to support and nature the ones that lack these basic facilities like pads and to ensure personal hygiene for women and girls. Rozy pads aim at restoring menstrual hygiene management and dignity through reusable sanitary pads training, reusable sanitary pads distribution, awareness and information workshops, establishing self-help groups and MHM club champions in school.  

Since its inception in November 2024, 4000 girls all over the country have received the Rozy reusable pads through our different partners, 200 girls trained in menstrual hygiene management and SRHR, 100 males engaged on what menstrual Hygiene means, 6 MHM clubs formed in schools and 10 senior women have been trained on MHM.
