Name of Organisation: Women Effort for Inclusive Development Initiative
Women Effort for Inclusive Development Initiative conducted a one school mentorship on 2nd/ August/ 2025 at Soma secondary school in Arua City. The mentorship focused on leadership skills, communication and conflict resolution. the sessions aimed to enhance students leadership skills, improve on their communication abilities and equip them with strategies for effective conflict resolution.
Objectives of the mentorship: To build leadership capacity among students. to promote effective communication skills and to enhance the ability of students to manage and resolve conflicts constructively.
Targeted people: The activity targeted newly elected prefects of Soma senior secondary school students (s1-s6) numbers reached: the activity reached 66 students both nationals and from refugee communities ( male Ugandan 34, female Ugandan 21, male refugee 08, and female refugee 03).
Key activities conducted leadership skills training: Students learned about qualities of good leaders, decision-making and team management. communication skills, students were taught on verbal and non verbal communication, active listening and public speaking tips. and lastly conflict resolution session. this session focused on identifying causes of conflict, mediation techniques and fostering peaceful relationships.
Key commitment that need follow up: Need to conduct follow up sessions to reinforce skills learnt, and there is need also to engage more schools in Arua City to scale up impact. need to encourage more female students to take up leadership positions in the school.
