
Training Students on Environmental Protection
We have been training schoolboys and girls on environmental protection to tackle climate change. This was done in 2 schools with adolescents and trees were given on world environment day 2024. We conducted training on GBV at group levels. GBV being one of the major drivers of Early Child Marriages in the communities in the region.
The child mothers together with their parents were taken through IGAs/Enterprise selection that they could engage in and Conflict resolution in groups where IGAs are being trained and implemented especially on sharing of profits generated as groups. We actively did awareness creating sessions with Community based agents on girl child education and dangers of child marriages.
Objectives:
- To build resilience of families to climate change
- To reduce gender-based violence (GBVs) in households
- To engage in IGAs as a source of livelihood for the child mothers in the region
- To select and mentor community-based agents to support the training of the communities on girl child education benefits.
Targets:
- 200 Schoolchildren aged 10-15 years on tree planting and climate smart practices of farming
- 15 Community Based Trainers/Agents (CBT/As) in 3 districts of Aleptong, Lira and Dokolo
- 30 child mothers to be trained on IGAs together with their parents totaling to 90 People
- 9 Girl child rights group mentors trained Numbers reached
- 200 school children reached and sensitized on smart climate practices
- 15 community-based agents reached but not all packages completed
- 60 members reached on IGAs
- 4 Girl child rights mentors formed and trained in the first round. There is need to complete the training of 30 child mothers and their parents on IGAs and more 5 girlchild rights mentors be formed and trained. Complete refresher training for the Child Mothers, mentors and CBTs/agents.
