Hope and Peace for Humanity (HPH), Uganda strives to achieve a socio-economically empowered community with persons whose rights are recognized and upheld. in doing so it targets persons who have gone through very traumatic experiences, abandoned with a hope that is shattered.
Children born in LRA captivity and former abductees continue to escape and trace their ways back home in Northern Uganda while others trace relatives through friends, former reintegrated returnees they may know or community traditional, government or religious leaders.
HPH with funding from Inspire Change an Indian based NGO and in partnership with Gulu War Affected Institute facilitated a training in Transformative Leadership, Trauma Healing and Self-care for young adolescent girls who are former LRA returnees and those born in rebel captivity and child mothers and survivors of gender based violence in a five days training.
The training goal was to provide hope and inspire conflict affected girls while preparing them for positive social change and transformative roles in leadership, developing their skills in community leadership and creating a lasting resilient trauma healing and selfcare.
The training targeted 35 young girls for the training that was facilitated with additional 35 yet to receive the training in the second slot using Narrative exposure Therapy (NET) to work through their traumatic captivity experiences and find healing and progressive self-care strategies through engaging in developmental economic livelihood activities and socio enterprises.
