Rescue, Rehabilitation, Resettlement and Education of Girl Children and Youth

In 2024, Dwelling Places, we made significant strides in supporting Girls Not Brides Uganda’s mission to end early marriage by reaching out to the most vulnerable girls in our communities of operation. Our efforts have been focused on providing immediate rescue, rehabilitation, reintegration, and education and empowering these young girls through child rights clubs.

Rescue: In partnership with Uganda Police, KCCA and like-minded, we successfully rescued 954 street-connected female victims of trafficking, removing them from precarious situations and placing them on a path toward a safer future.

Rehabilitation: In addition to rescue operations, we provided holistic rehabilitation services to 138 girls, ensuring they received the support needed to build resilience & healing before reintegration into society and reclaiming their lives.

Educational Support: Recognizing that education is a key tool in the fight against early marriage, child trafficking and other exploitations, we contributed to the education of 115 girls, offering them the foundation for a brighter, self-reliant future.

Empowerment: We also facilitated the active participation of 603 girls from 15 child rights clubs in Kampala & Napak districts, empowering them with the knowledge of their rights and equipping them to advocate for themselves and their communities. We also participated in National & Internationally recognised days where platforms were created for girls to lobby their leader on issues affecting girls in their communities.

These combined efforts have not only brought immediate relief to many at-risk girls but have also laid the groundwork for long-term change. By rescuing, rehabilitating, educating, and empowering these young girls, we are actively contributing to the broader goal of ending early marriage and building a society where every girl has the opportunity to thrive.
