Uganda Youth and Adolescents Health Forum – UYAHF is a dynamic youth led and youth serving health, human rights and girl centred organization that seeks to advance quality health and well-being for adolescents and young people. UYAHF’s overall goal is to empower young people more so adolescent girls and young women to live build agency, live quality lives with equity, dignity and opportunities to realize their full potential. In addition, UYAHF also:
- Seeks to enhance gender equality and empowerment of women and girls with focus on prevention and response to sexual and gender-based violence, addressing negative social norms and prevention of harmful cultural practices that undermine the dignity and health of young people and expose them to stigma, violence, vulnerability etc.
- Strives to build agency among adolescent girls and young women, inspire them to build confidence and self-esteem and to be in charge of their bodies by exercising bodily autonomy through correct choices and meaningful participation in decision making processes for their own issues.
- Works to mobilize and amplify voices of young people to meaningfully shape, inform and influence policy and program decision making processes at national and district level.
- Seeks to promote youth livelihoods through enhancement of young people skills and social economic empowerment. For example, through the UYAHF Youth Hubs, young people are equipped with a wide range of practical social economic skills such as in fashion and design, hair dressing, bakery and confectionery etc.
